Udyam Registration is registered electronically on the Udyam Registration portal by any business enterprise planning to register under a micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise.
The Udyam Registration Portal is a single-window online self-declaration portal with no records, articles, certificates, or evidence needed to be uploaded.
And all previously registered MSME enterprises or companies and businesses who have EM II or UAM certificates must re-register/ convert to Udyam in order to avail of MSME benefits on or before March 31, 2021.
What is Udyam registration?
Udyam registration is online registration for micro, small-medium enterprises (MSME) provided by the Indian government. The Indian Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises changed the name of MSME Udyog Aadhar Registration to Udyam Registration. An aadhaar number is mandatory for Udyam Registration. After successful online registration, Udyam Registration Number (URN) will be allotted, it is a permanent identification number. Udyam Registration certificate (E-Certificate) with QR code will be provided on the completion of online registration.
Note: The registration process for Existing Enterprises
All existing registered under EM – Part II OR (Entrepreneurs Memorandum), UAM (Udyog Aadhar Memorandum Portal), Again register on Udyam Registration Portal w.e.f 01/07/20.
All enterprise registered till 30/06/2020 will be classified again
An existing enterprise registered up to 30/03/2020 – valid till 31/03/2021

APPLICANT NAME (REQUIRED)
Anyone who applies for a Udyam registration certificate is an applicant. Applicant’s name should be the Name of Owner or Promoter. And the name of the applicant should be the same as provided in the Aadhaar Card.
So the applicant needed to enter his/her name as stated by UIDAI on the aadhaar card.
Note:
The name of the applicant should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card. And the Aadhaar card should be linked with the Indian phone number.
For a proprietorship business, the individual business owner’s name should be entered and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
For a partnership company, anyone designated partner name can be entered and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
For a Private Limited company (PVT), any authorized director’s name can be entered and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
For a public limited company (PLC), any authorized director’s name can be entered and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
For a Limited Liability Partnership company (LLP) any authorized director’s name can be entered and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
This is the same for Cooperative Society, Trust, Society any designated director or partner name can be entered, and his/her name should be similar to his/her Aadhaar card.
Important Note: After udyam registration, an applicant can not edit his/her name. So one should care full while entering the name of the applicant.
MOBILE NUMBER (REQUIRED)
In this category, applicants are required to enter his/her Indian mobile number. Applicant phone number should be linked with the Aadhaar card. According to the order passed by the Supreme Court, Aadhaar should be linked with your mobile number has become mandatory by the government.
Note: Please note that it is mandatory to have a mobile-linked Aadhaar card number. If your Aadhaar number is not linked/ connected to your mobile phone number yet, do this first.
Note: Upon receiving the OTP you will be required to share the OTP with our representatives for further process.
Note: You cannot update the Applicants name, State, District, Aadhaar Number in the Udyam Registration Certificate. PAN number can be edited only in some special cases.
EMAIL ID (REQUIRED)
Applicant needed to enter his/her email id as a udyam certificate and acknowledgment will be sent to a registered id. Do enter a valid email address, both in appropriate formats, consists of an email prefix and an email domain. Once you add an email address, please do cross check it once.
Note: Email address should be correct as you will receive msme udyam certificate on your registered e-mail address.
OFFICE ADDRESS (REQUIRED)
Applicants are required to enter the main address or corporate office address and plant address. The address should be correct. For communication purposes, the company/ enterprise/ entity postal address is required. Details about the district, pin code, and state of your business.
Note: If the applicant’s office address and plant address are different then he/she should mention both. After the successful registration, there will be only the official address of the enterprises on the Udyam registration certificate, and both office address and plant address will be there on the Udyam application.
ANNUAL TURNOVER
Turnover is the total sales made in a year time by a company. Here in this category applicants are required to enter his / her annual turnover.
Data relating to an enterprise's turnover and export turnover is related to the Income Tax Act or the Central Goods and Services Act (CGST Act) and GSTIN.
The turnover related figures of such enterprise which do not have PAN will be considered on self-declaration basis for a period up to 31 March 2021 and thereafter, PAN and GSTIN shall be mandatory.
The estimate of the plant and machinery or equipment expenditure would be related to the previous year's Income Tax Return (ITR) submitted under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
In the case of a new business enterprise, where no prior ITR (Income Tax Return) is available, the investment will be based on the self-declaration of the business owner of the enterprise and such relaxation shall end after the 31st March of the financial year in which it files its first ITR (Income Tax Return).
In accordance with the notification issued by the Ministry of MSMEs on 26 June 2020, all existing enterprises registered prior to 30 June 2020 shall be reclassified as micro, small or medium enterprises under the composite expenditure and turnover criteria for the classification of an enterprise.
All such existing undertakings have to be registered under Udyam Registration. Current undertakings registered before 30 June 2020 shall remain valid for a period up to 31 March 2021 only.
SOCIAL CATEGORY
Here applicants can select a social category like General / Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Scheduled Caste (SC) / Other Backward Castes (OBC).
AADHAAR NUMBER (REQUIRED)
Here the applicant can enter his / her 12 digit aadhaar number. Every individual who is from India has a twelve-digit Aadhaar number is issued to the applicant.
In the case of a proprietary enterprise, this Aadhaar number must be the Managing Partner, the Authorized Partner, or the Authorized Person or the owner of the business.
In the case of a Company, LLP, PVT, or Partnership enterprise, any designated director or partner aadhaar number can be used.
Note: If an applicant or a company's approved signatory does not have an Aadhar card, he/she must first apply for Aadhar at an enrollment center for Aadhaar. Once the Aadhar is obtained, it is possible to begin the Udyam registration process.
PREVIOUS UAM NUMBER (WRITE "NA" IF NOT AVAILABLE)
Here if you have already registered under the Ministry of MSME and have a udyog aadhaar memorandum number (UAM), then mention it, here. If you are applying for a new udyam registration, then mention it NA (NOT AVAILABLE).
Note: All who have an EM-II or UAM registration, or any other registration provided under the Ministry of MSME by any authority, would have to re-register again on the Udyam registration portal.
PAN CARD NUMBER (WRITE "NA" IF NOT AVAILABLE) (REQUIRED)
The applicant has to enter his / her pan card number in this category. If you do not have a PAN card number then mention NA (NOT AVAILABLE).
PAN cards are not required for proprietorship firms as they are not regarded as a separate legal entity. But after 01/04/2021, it will become mandatory for the proprietorship enterprises.
In the case of PVT Ltd, a Partnership firm or LLP they need to add their company PAN card number. PAN card is issued by the Indian tax department.
The Ministry of MSME has given relaxation until 01/04/2021 for organizations/ enterprises that do not have a PAN or GSTIN. PAN number and GSTIN are mandatory for registration on or after 01/04/2021. One can not take more than one UDYAM registration with a single PAN.
Note: Any new startup business applicant can take registration on a self-declaration basis up to 01/04/2021 and thereafter, PAN and GSTIN shall be mandatory.
Note: PAN number can be edited in some special cases.
BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER AND IFSC CODE
An applicant should enter his / her company bank account details. The company's banking information, including the bank name, bank account number, and IFSC code.
Note: Bank details can be editable online in the udyam registration portal.
BUSINESS NAME (REQUIRED)
Here the applicant has to enter the name of the entity/ company/ enterprises in which it performs its operations. Once registration is done with the name of the business it can not be removed/ rename/ replace it with another business name. Applicate can edit/ update only the spelling errors on the udyam certificate. The entire business name cannot be changed.
Note: One enterprise owner can not take more than one UDYAM registration certificate with a single PAN (Permanent Account Number).
DATE OF COMMENCEMENT OF BUSINESS
The applicant has to enter the date of business started, as it will get printed on the certificate. Here the applicant has to mention the commencement date of the respective business. It is the date on which the business entity began its operations.
TYPE OF ORGANISATION (REQUIRED)
The applicant has to select the type of organization like proprietorship, partnership, private limited, one-person company, limited liability partnership, Hindu undivided family, society, as it will get printed on the udyam certificate.
Note: No business enterprise shall file more than one Udyam Registration. However, any number of activities can be listed or applied to a single registration, like manufacturing or service, or both.
MAIN BUSINESS ACTIVITY OF ENTERPRISE
Here the applicant can select the main business activity. There are two option manufacturers and service providers. Here select a major area of activity of the business enterprises.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT BUSINESS :
The applicant can enter additional details about the business/ entity/ company. (for example – manufacturing of electronic products, tax registration consultant service)
NUMBER OF PERSONS EMPLOYED
Here the applicant has to mention the total number of employees working under the company. Add the number of company employees in the business.
INVESTMENT IN PLANT AND MACHINERY
Here the applicant has to enter the total amount invested in terms of machinery and equipment by the business.
District Industry Center (DIC)
Here the applicant has to select the district industry center. It is the details of the nearest DIC (District Industry Center) to such a company, if applicable.
National Industrial Classification (NIC) Code
You must enter the NIC Code as per the National Industrial Classification, you will find it as per your business. To include all of its operations, the applicant can choose multiple National Industrial Classification-2008 (NIC) codes for registration.
