Udyam Registration is an electronic process available on the Udyam Registration Portal, where businesses looking to register as micro, small, or medium enterprises can complete their registration online. This single-window, self-declaration portal allows businesses to register without submitting any documents, records, certificates, or proofs.

Additionally, all previously registered enterprises and businesses holding EM-II or UAM certificates must reregister or convert to Udyam to continue availing benefits. The deadline for re-registration was March 31, 2021.

What is Udyam registration?

Udyam Registration is an online registration system introduced by the Government of India for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises renamed the MSME Udyog Aadhaar Registration to Udyam Registration to streamline the process.

An Aadhaar number is mandatory for completing the registration. Once the online registration is successfully completed, a Udyam Registration Number (URN) is issued, which serves as a permanent identification number for the enterprise. Additionally, a Udyam Registration Certificate (E-Certificate) containing a QR code is provided, allowing quick access to enterprise details.

Note: The registration process for Existing Enterprises

All enterprises previously registered under EM-Part II (Entrepreneurs Memorandum) or UAM (Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum Portal) were required to re-register on the Udyam Registration Portal starting from July 1, 2020.

Enterprises that registered before June 30, 2020, were reclassified under the new system. Any enterprise registered until March 30, 2020, remained valid only until March 31, 2021, and had to migrate from UAM to Udyam to continue enjoying the benefits.
